Air traffic controllers are now awaiting a meeting with the finance ministry to hold discussions on their wage claim.
The Jamaica Air Traffic Controllers’ Association has complained that it has not received any word from the ministry since submitting its claim for the 2012-2014 contract period in May last year. Last Tuesday, the Association said it was prepared to embark on strong action to press the government to hold wage talks. It said initial talks have since been held with officials at the Finance Ministry and plans are to be made to convene a meeting with the Minister with responsibility for the Public Service, Horace Dalley. The association says it’s hoping that a meeting will be called for this week. The Jamaica Air Traffic Controllers’ Association had indicated that it will not support a wage freeze being imposed on its members.
