BusinessCharvis appointed OUR interim Director General2013-02-26 16:25:51 | (0 Comments) ![]() Maurice Charvis, appointed interim Director General, Office of Utilities Regulation The process of engaging a permanent director general is now in progress, the OUR said in a release. Charvis has served as a deputy director general of the OUR since July, 1, 2009. According to the OUR, he brings to the new position a very strong background in utility regulation, having served the organization at a senior level for approximately 16 years. He has been pivotal to the development of the OUR in the handling of regulatory policy issues, resulting in the organization becoming the leading utility regulator in the Caribbean. “In his new role he will be accountable to Parliament through the Office of the Cabinet/Office of the Prime Minister for the regulation of the utility sectors pursuant to the Office of Utilities Regulation Act and other relevant legislation and enabling instruments,” the release said. Prior to joining the OUR, Charvis worked with the National Water Commission, the Jamaica Telephone Company and the Department of Mines.
