Prisoner captured, four cops in custody

2013-02-27 09:04:31 | (0 Comments)

Three more cops have been arrested in connection with the escape of a prisoner from the Freeport lock-up in Montego Bay in late January.

The prisoner was recaptured on Sunday at the home of a policewoman who has also since been arrested.

The police say one of the cops arrested yesterday is a special constable, who works in Montego Bay while the other two work in the Westmoreland Division.

At the time of his escape, the prisoner was facing charges for several crimes in St James, Hanover and Westmoreland.

The police say investigation of the circumstances leading to the escape of the prisoner and the involvement of police personnel in the escape is being conducted jointly by the Anti-Corruption Branch and the St. James Police.
