NewsNoxious fumes force school closures2013-02-28 13:00:44 | (0 Comments) ![]() St George's College students heading home after noxious fumes force schools to be closed - Norman Grindley/Chief Photographer.g Classes at several schools in proximity to the Central Sorting Office of the Post and Telecoms Department in Kingston have been suspended because of the noxious fumes coming from the building. It’s reported that strong wind is spreading the fumes across the area, which is affecting the institutions. The Holy Trinity High School, Convent of Mercy ( Alpha Academy), Alpha Primary, St. George’s College, Kingston College, and Jessie Ripoll Primary are among the schools which are being affected by the noxious substance. It's also reported that students are complaining of burning sensation in the back of the throat and tightness of the chest but they are not smelling the fumes. Students were seen walking along the roadway with their faces covered. Administrators say they decided to end classes early so as to prevent students from falling ill. The police have cordoned off sections of North Street and South Camp Road.
