Tax Administration Jamaica is reminding taxpayers they have just two weeks to file their Income Tax Returns before the March 15 deadline.

All companies, self-employed persons, and employed persons with additional sources of income are required to file their Annual Income Tax Return for 2012 and to declare their estimated income for 2013 on or before that date.

However, persons are encouraged to submit their returns before March 15 to avoid the usual last minute rush at Tax Offices.

As a convenient option, they may register to file and pay online via the Jamaica Tax Portal at www.jamaicatax-online.gov.jm, using a credit card.

Additionally, the Tax Administration is offering assistance to small business operators and self-employed individuals to prepare their tax returns.

Business persons are reminded that failure to file income tax returns by the due date is a breach of the Income Tax Act.

Such a breach could lead to the tax authorities issuing an automatically generated estimated assessment, or taking other enforcement or court action.
