The 5th Biennial Jamaica Diaspora Conference is to explore increased opportunities for investment and trade, among other areas this year.

The conference is scheduled to take place at the Montego Bay Convention Centre, in St James, from June 16 to 19 under the theme: A Nation on a Mission: Jamaica-Diaspora Partnership for National Development.

The conference will also focus on the development of key sectors, such as healthcare and education, and on stimulating investment in various sectors.

Speaking at a ceremony to officially launch the conference, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade A J Nicholson said the staging of the conference shows the government’s drive to strengthen the linkages with the Diaspora community.

Mr Nicholson says it also demonstrates the serious commitment which both the Government and the private sector attach to the effective engagement of the Jamaican Diaspora in national development.
