NewsCSO staff return to work2013-03-04 08:40:13 | (0 Comments)
Employees at the Central Sorting Office of the Post and Telecoms Department are to return to work today, following last week’s shutdown after noxious fumes at the facility caused some people to fall ill.
Health officials had ordered the workers to stay away from the building to facilitate clean-up activities over the weekend. Last Thursday, the noxious fumes forced the emergency services to close several schools and some streets in the area. The authorities say 60 people had to seek medical attention because of the effects of the fumes. Meanwhile, Postmaster General Michael Gentles says checks are still being made to identity the cause and source of the fumes. Initial checks by the authorities showed that the fumes did not originate from the Central Sorting Office building. It’s for that reason they have expanded the search to other sites near the building.
