Cash Plus boss trial begins today

Former cash Plus Boss, Carlos Hill - File.
The long-awaited trial of Carlos Hill, the former head of the failed investment scheme Cash Plus, is expected to begin in the Home Circuit Court this morning.

Hill who is out on a $15 million bail has been before the court since 2008.

The former Cash Plus boss is accused of fraudulently inducing persons to invest in a ponzi scheme.

His brother Bertram, and Peter Wilson, the former chief financial officer of Cash Plus, are also on trial.

They are charged with obtaining money by false pretence, conspiracy to defraud and fraudulent conversion.

The three men were charged in April 2008.

Carlos Hill and his two co-accused are also before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on other charges related to the Cash Plus collapse.

Those matters have been put on hold pending the outcome of the proceedings in the Home Circuit Court.
