NewsTAJ publishes list of delinquent taxpayers2013-03-07 09:34:42 | (0 Comments) ![]() Persons waiting to file tax returns at tax office in downdown, Kingston -FIle. Yesterday, the TAJ published a list of some 300 persons, who it said were taken before the courts between January and February for failing to pay over approximately $4 billion in arrears. The breaches published relate to cases for non-filing and arrears for General Consumption Tax, PAYE, Education Tax, Corporate Income Tax, Personal Income Tax, Property Tax and Trade License. The TAJ’s Director of Communications, Merris Haughton, said this has become necessary, as the entity seeks to have business operators and self employed persons comply with the law. Haughton is advising the public that during the upcoming fiscal year, the TAJ will periodically publish the court list in the print media and on its website. She says taxpayers who are experiencing difficulty honouring their tax obligations should speak with the TAJ to make suitable arrangements, to avoid possible Court action.
