Holmes wins first Contender match

Richard Holmes won the opening bout of the third staging of the Wray and Nephew Contender Boxing Series with a technical knockout victory over Lloyd Smith last night.

The fight took place at the Chinese Benevolent Association auditorium.

Holmes, who was a semi-finalist last year won the six-round contest in the second round.

Referee, Barrington Graham, stopped the contest at 2 minutes 30 seconds in the round.
