Unions meet with Monymusk today

2013-03-08 09:18:20 | (0 Comments)

Unions representing workers at the Monymusk sugar factory in Clarendon are insisting ahead of a meeting with the factory's management that they will accept nothing but a reversal of a decision to lay off over 30 employees.

The unions are meeting with Pan Caribbean Sugar Company at Bernard Lodge in St. Catherine at 9.30 this morning.

Clifton Grant, the first vice-president of the University and Allied Workers Union, says the company has advised that the affected workers will receive their redundancy payments today.

However, he says the unions will be demanding that the company withdraw the redundancy letters which were issued to 37 employees to ensure normality at the factory.
