Tax dept to extend opening hours this week

Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) says all its customer care centres islandwide will be open for an extra hour, starting tomorrow.

The TAJ says this is part of an attempt to deal with the increase in customer queries that is expected in the lead up to the March 15 income tax filing deadline.

As a result, all customer care centres will operate between the hours of 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. this week

The TAJ says it is encouraging members of the public to take advantage of the additional hours to ensure that they meet the March 15 deadline.

Meanwhile, the TAJ says each centre is capable of processing registration for electronic filing, so it is unnecessary for taxpayers to visit an office to have this process completed.
