The retired North West Manchester Member of Parliament, Dean Peart has called for a renewed commitment to volunteerism.

According to Peart, there is a clear need for more involvement at the community level to help the country to attain its national goals.

He was speaking in Mandeville over the weekend, at a special ceremony to recognise him for his service as a Member of Parliament.

The five-time People’s National Party MP for North West Manchester did not seek re-election in the last general election.

That seat is now held by Mikael Phillips, the son of Finance Minister Dr Peter Phillips.
