$800 million to improve eastern St Mary water systems

Some $800 million is to be spent to improve water systems serving more than 29,000 residents of some communities in eastern St. Mary.

Funding for the project will is being provided by the National Water Commission and the Rural Water Supply Limited.

Water Minister, Robert Pickersgill, says the project which is to begin later this year, will entail extensive infrastructure works.

The project will see work being carried out on systems at Iterboreale, Chovey, Agualta Vale, Bellefield, Nutfield, Highgate and Islington.

The water minister says the project is to be implemented over a 15 to 18 month period.
