Nightingale Grove flood relief project underway

2013-03-12 14:49:11 | with audio | (0 Comments)

The National Works Agency says a programme is underway to mitigate flooding in Nightingale Grove in St. Catherine.

The community has suffered from persistent flooding over the years.

Acting Senior Communications Office Janelle Ricketts, says the agency will be rehabilitating the Coburn Gully in the community which is the major contributing factor to flooding in the area.

In the meantime, Ricketts says the new bridge being constructed in Dover Castle, St. Catherine should be completed by the end of this week.

She says work teams are now covering sections of the road with asphalt.

The previous bridge collapsed during the passage of Tropical Storm Nicole in 2010.
