Trelawny PC pushes for payment of property taxes

2013-03-16 08:29:26 | (0 Comments)

The Trelawny Parish Council has passed a resolution requesting the Local Government ministry to urgently lobby the Finance ministry to have the payment of property taxes linked to the issuing of tax compliance certificates.

The resolution was moved by Martha Brae Division councilor Phillip Service and seconded by councilor Dr. Pauline Foster of the Ulster Spring Division.

The resolution highlighted a low compliance rate in relation to the payment of property taxes which are used to fund essential services in the parish.

Councilor Foster said she was very disappointed that the resolution did not go further to include the issuing of passports and other government documents.

It was then recommended that the resolution be forwarded to the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation, the Portmore Municipal Council and Parish Councils islandwide.
