Man, woman arrested after gun, ammunition find

Police attached to the Half-Way Tree police station this morning seized two
firearms and 27 rounds of ammunition on Suthermere Avenue, Kingston 10 and
at premises in Greater Portmore, St Catherine.


It is reported that about 6:25 a.m., while carrying out a spot check on Suthermere Road, the driver of a Honda Fit motor vehicle was signaled to stop.

The police say the driver complied, and he and a female passenger were both
searched, resulting in the seizure of one 9mm Browning pistol with 14
rounds of ammunition.

According to the police, a warrant was obtained and further checks at the
female’s home in Greater Portmore led to the seizure of a another firearm,
one Intra Tec sub-machine gun with a magazine containing 13 rounds.

The two were arrested and taken into police custody; however their names
are being withheld pending further investigations.
