Shootout between police, gunmen leaves one dead

An exchange of gunfire, reportedly between gunmen and the St Catherine South police yesterday evening, left one man dead.
The dead man has not been identified.
Reports reaching The Gleaner/ Power 106 News Centre are that about 7:15 yesterday evening the police saw a group of men travelling in a stolen motor car. Gunfire was reportedly exchanged and one of the men was killed, while two others escaped.
The police launched a search for the men and a firearm was reportedly recovered during the hunt. The gun seizure brings to 31 the number of illegal guns seized in the division since the start of the year, two more than the corresponding period last year.
