Head of the St Catherine North Police Senior Superintendent Anthony Castelle has ordered a probe into the theft of three ballistic vests from his division.
The probe comes after the vests, belonging to police personnel from the division, were found in a car which was stolen in Wakefield, Trelawny on Sunday.
The policemen were taken into custody, questioned and released in connection with the incident which also left a district constable dead.

It was earlier reported that about 10 a.m. Sunday morning a group of men in a motor car went to a house in the Wakefield community where they held up and robbed the occupants, kidnapped a man and stole a car.
The police later found the vehicle, which contained the ballistic vests, abandoned in the area.

They returned fire and the district constable was later found suffering from gunshot wounds.
