Saqukine Cameron – File
Plans to replace Saqukine Cameron with Shanice Reid in the girls 100m for Jamaica at the IAAF World Youth Championships have been shelved after the Jamaican authorities failed to get the requisite clearance from the championships' organisers.
Cameron was said to be psychologically and physically unable to honour her 100m, 200m and relay medley commitments here, with the Jamaican management team submitting Reid's name in her place in the shorter sprint.
However, the Jamaicans were told that they will not be able to make the switch because Reid was never registered for the 100m, meaning that Edwin Allen's Cameron, is expected to face the starter when the championships starts tomorrow.
Cameron, who will be joined by Jonielle Smith in the 100m and 200m, was hoping to only compete in the half lap 200m and relay, but is said to be focused on doing her best in the 100m tomorrow.
