All J'can athletes now want their 'B' samples tested
2013-07-22 12:00:27 | (0 Comments)
All five Jamaican athletes who returned positive tests for banned substances have now requested analysis of their B samples.
The process for one of the athletes is now at an advanced stage as that athlete had indicated an interest in the analysis of the B sample early last week.
That athlete was last week provided with two dates for the analysis of the B sample by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) accredited laboratory in Montreal.
Chairman of the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCO) Dr Herb Elliott, says the other four athletes have now requested analysis of their B samples, just before the deadline on Friday.
Elliott says JADCO is now waiting on the WADA laboratory to provide the dates for the remaining athletes.
Former 100-metre world record holder Asafa Powell and his MVP teammate Sherone Simpson were the first athletes to confirm they had tested positive at the Jamaican World Championships Trials, which took place last month.
Powell and Simpson tested positive for oxilofrine.
Powell has blamed his positive drug on a range of new nutritional supplements prescribed to him by a Canadian trainer he has only been working with for two months.
