The main road between Bog Walk and Sligoville in St Catherine is to undergo major rehabilitation work.
The National Works Agency (NWA) says it will cost $324 million to repair the approximately 9.5 kilometres of roadway.
The work will include the construction of concrete drains and retaining walls and is scheduled to be completed in seven months.
The Bog Walk to Sligoville main road is an important alternative route that is used by motorists when the Bog Walk Gorge is impassable.
The NWA has already completed the rehabilitation of the 6.5 kilometre stretch of road from Red Hills to Santa Maria at a cost of $232 million.
Communications Manager at the NWA, Stephen Shaw says the project forms part of the islandwide Transportation Infrastructure Rehabilitation Programme which is being funded by the Inter-American Development Bank.
