Jamaican officials are now awaiting the outcome of an appeal against the disqualification of the women's 4X400m relay team.
The team has been disqualified for a lane violation under rule 163.
Rule 163 states: "In all races run in lanes, each athlete shall keep within his allocated lane from start to finish. This shall also apply to any portion of a race run in lanes".
The referee, having examined the video recording of the race has disqualified the Jamaican team.
The lane violation, as reported, is believed to have happened in the first leg of the relay, in the heat run by Rosemarie Whyte.
The other team members were: Anastasia Leroy, Kaliese Spencer and Christine Day.
