Jamaica Women's 4x400m Relay team is officially out of the final after the Juror of Appeals upheld the disqualification for a lane violation under rule 16.3.
Rule 163 states: "In all races run in lanes, each athlete shall keep within his allocated lane from start to finish. This shall also apply to any portion of a race run in lanes".
The referee, having examined the video recording of the race disqualified the Jamaican team.
The Jamaican officials then lodged an appeal.
However, the ruling turned out unfavourable for the Jamaicans.
The lane violation, as reported, is believed to have happened in the first leg of the relay, in the heat run by Rosemarie Whyte.
The other team members were: Anastasia Leroy, Kaliese Spencer and Christine Day.
