Philanthropist, developer and land mogul Joe Whitter is dead.
The 81-year-old Montego Bay businessman, credited for developing the Ironshore Estate, died at the Cornwall Regional Hospital at approximately 8:30 last night after two years of battling kidney disease.
Whitter's widow, Angella Whitter described him as a fantastic family man who has contributed significantly to the economy.
"He was a great man, who did a lot for his country," she said.
Whitter is also renowned for his developments in the United Kingdom, where he amassed most of his properties.
