Police constable Cecil McKenzie was this morning granted bail in the sum of $1 million on corruption charges.
Reports indicate that in February, McKenzie of the Linstead Police station arrested and charged a man with simple larceny.
However, the victim of the theft decided not to proceed with the case.
The constable allegedly took $27,000 from the suspect in the case.
However, itís reported that he did not return all the money to the victim of the crime.
A report was then made to the Anti-Corruption Branch and the cop charged for perverting the course of justice..
He is scheduled to return to court on November 19.
He was bailed after his lawyer convinced the judge that the constable is not a flight risk.
