Police Commissioner, Owen Ellington, is expected to announce the appointment of Superintendent Steve McGregor as new head of the Kingston West Police Division.

McGregor currently heads the Kingston Central police.
He is to take over from Senior Superintendent, Ronald Anderson, who assumed the position April.
In recent weeks, there has been a flare up of violence in West Kingston resulting in several deaths including that of 11-year-old Tashanique 'Dana' James earlier this month.
The police have attributed the increased violence to a battle between rival gangs for control in the aftermath of Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke’s removal.
According to the police, three criminal gangs are at odds but only the Two-Strikers Gang and the Scare Dem Gang are involved in the current flare-up.
This is the second change in leadership in the Kingston West Division since the start of the year.
