One of Andrew Holness’ early supporters, Everald Warmington says if Audley Shaw becomes leader of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) it could be detrimental.
At an area council meeting yesterday, Warmington accused Shaw of poor leadership credentials and asserted that the JLP deputy leader has not met the minimum standards to run for the post of party leader.
The South West St Catherine Member of Parliament argues that Shaw’s low margin of victory in the last general election will not allow him to carry out the duties expected of a leader and this could result in a victorious JLP being led by a leader who cannot sit in Parliament.
The Central St Catherine Member of Parliament, Olivia 'Babsy' Grange has urged Holness not to pay attention to what she calls noise.
Warmington and Grange are among several senior JLP members who have declared support for Holness.
