Con artists scamming JPS light cheats in St Mary
2013-09-02 11:54:44 | (0 Comments)
Unscrupulous persons have been scamming non-regularised individuals who are illegally abstracting electricity from JPS in St Mary.
The power company is warning the public to beware of these scammers, who, at this time, are targeting persons located primarily in St Mary.
The areas affected include: Carron Hall, Montreal, Hazard, Palmetto Grove, White Spring, Windsor Castle and Springfield.
The scam involves identifying persons who are illegally abstracting electricity, then charging them a fee, to avoid prosecution.
JPS wishes to point out that there is no arrangement or system to have non-regularised persons pay a fee in lieu of prosecution for electricity theft.
Persons who are not legally connected to the grid, are advised to visit the nearest JPS Customer Service Office to address this issue or call JPS customer care centre at 1888-CALLJPS (1888-225-5577) or 1888-935-5577 for information.
