Court today for Trelawny mother/daughter linked baby dumping
2013-09-06 09:29:17 | (0 Comments)
The Trelawny mother and her teenage daughter charged with the disposal of the teen's newborn in a pit latrine are scheduled to appear before the Clark’s Town Resident Magistrate’s Court today.
Hyacinth Carnegie and the teenager, from the community of Stetin, were remanded when they last appeared in court on August 2.
At the time, presiding magistrate Icoline Reid told Carnegie that bail would not be considered for her, until she could find alternate living arrangements that would keep her out of the Stetin community.
Carnegie’s daughter was remanded to the Fort Augusta Adult Correctional Centre, in St Catherine, where a psychiatric evaluation was expected to be done on her.
The Government announced this week that all female juveniles at the Fort Agusta facility were transferred to the South Camp Road Rehabilitation Centre.
The teen and her mother have been charged with concealing the death of a child while a 23-year-old man was charged with carnal abuse for impregnating the underage girl.
The baby’s body was found in a pit latrine on May 30.
