On September 16, Anderson will take up command at the St Catherine South Police Division while Superintendent Steve McGreggor, head of the Kingston Central Division will be taking up the reigns in Kingston West.
As he prepares for the transfer, SSP Anderson is pointing to the arrest of nine major players from the Scare Dem, Strikers and Four Storey gangs that operate in the division as some of his major successes.
The senior policeman says he was given six areas in which to effect major transformations.
These include, reducing corruption within the ranks of the Kingston West police, increasing public confidence, reducing murder and violent crimes and having 80 percent of the police in the field.
Anderson was also mandated to implement a high visibility patrol within the main corridors of the division and manage and provide effective leadership to resources.
SSP Anderson says the efforts to bring down the murder rate was affected by the outbreak of violence in once dormant areas such as Craig Town, Rema, Hannah Town, Torrington Park, Federal Gardens, Trench Town and Top Jungle in Jones Town.
However, he says the arrest of the nine leading gang members since the August 1, outbreak of violence in the Denham Town area played a significant role in police investigations and the dismantling of gangs.
He says the relationship with residents has improved resulting in better policing efforts
The senior cop says of the four murders committed in Tivoli Gardens under his leadership, two have been cleared up.
He notes the police efforts have taken place within resource constraints.
