2013-09-14 17:59:17 | (0 Comments)
The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS), says three business operators are among five people arrested for illegal abstraction of electricity in the community of Rosemount, St James.
JPS says the arrests were made after metre-bypassing devices were allegedly discovered at two business establishments and another reportedly found to be illegally connected to the grid during a two-day operation this week.
The light and power company says a check of 500 households in the community revealed that 380 had some kind of irregularity.
At the end of the operation, the company said it removed 5,000 illegal connections.
JPS says it continues to appeal to residents to have their service regularised.
