$17m worth of ganja seized in a week - police
2013-09-15 12:17:46 | (0 Comments)
The police say $17 million worth of ganja were seized in separate operations across the country in the past week, placing a major dent in the "Guns for Drugs Trade".
The police operations took place in Manchester, St Elizabeth, Kingston and St Thomas.
Four boats were also seized during the police sweep, including a 32-foot vessel with high powered engines in St Elizabeth, laden with 2,000 pounds of marijuana valued at $10 million.
Several persons were arrested in relation to the seizures.
And the Police High Command has congratulated the police personnel responsible for last week's multi-million dollar seizures. The high command says the divisions responsible for last week's seizure must be encouraged to continue their efforts to disrupt drug trafficking activities across the country in order to reduce crime, especially murder.
Anyone with information that can assist the police in their investigation is being asked to contact the Transnational Crime and Narcotics Division in your area, Police 119 emergency number or the nearest police station.
