Contractor General completes Spaldings Market probe
2013-09-16 17:21:10 | (0 Comments)
The Office of the Contractor General (OCG) has now completed its probe into the Spaldings Market affair involving state minister in the works ministry, Richard Azan.
Azan, who is the Member Parliament for North West Clarendon, has admitted to instructing a private contractor, John Bryant, to construct 10 shops at the market last September without the permission of the Clarendon Parish Council.
A staff member at his constituency office reportedly collected the rent on the contractor’s behalf.
The OCG, which began probing the matter on March 5, says its report has been sent to all the relevant authorities, including the Houses of Parliament and the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The report is expected to be tabled at the next sitting of Parliament after which the contents will be disclosed.
In the meantime, the OCG has completed a separate probe into the Right to Supply 360 Megawatts of Power to the National Grid.
The report on that probe has also been forwarded to the relevant authorities.
