Rapid True Value, Constant Spring Road, Kingston. - File
CEO of Hardware and Lumber, Andrea Coy has sought to clarify previously reported rumours on social media that armed gunmen had invaded the Rapid True Value store on Constant Spring Road earlier this morning.
It had been falsely reported that several armed men had robbed the hardware and home centre, which is operated by Hardware and Lumber Limited, a member of the GraceKennedy Group of Companies, of an undetermined sum of money.
According to Coy, "there was an incident where persons attempted to remove items from the store. I got a report on that minutes to 11 a.m. However, it was nothing as dramatic as what had been said about armed gunmen robbing the store."
The Constabulary Communication Network has reported that one man has been taken into custody in relation to the incident. Investigations continue.
