Three entities have been short-listed in the divestment of the Kingston Container Terminal.
The three were selected from a field of five companies which responded to the government’s request for proposals.
Permanent Secretary in the Transport and Works Ministry Audrey Sewell gave an update at today’s post Cabinet press briefing.
Ms Sewell said now that entities have been short-listed a legal consultant is to be engaged by the end of the month to guide the process going forward.
An enterprise team is leading the divestment of the Terminal.
In June, the Port Authority of Jamaica, which has responsibility for the Kingston Container Terminal, said it was pushing to speedily divest the state asset because it plans to use the proceeds as financing for dredging the Kingston Harbour.
The dredging is seen as critical to accommodating larger ships when the Panama Canal expansion is completed.
