UPDATE: Gridlock in Half Way Tree after robbery near bank

Motorists have been reporting extreme traffic delays in Half-Way Tree, St Andrew following a robbery around midday.

The incident happened near FirstCaribbean Bank.
The area has since been cordoned off and traffic diverted to other routes.
According to the police, one gunman was accosted while a second escaped in a waiting Nissan motor car.
The Constabulary Communication Network says police personnel attached to the Traffic Division were travelling along Half Way Tree Road when they observed the robbers attempting to escape.
They say at least two men had just held up and robbed a woman at gunpoint.
Security personnel were reportedly in pursuit of the men when the traffic cops intervened.
The police say a handgun was taken from the captured robber and a handbag recovered.
