Traffic changes for PNP conference
2013-09-22 12:20:17 | (0 Comments)
A number of traffic changes have been implemented for today’s public session of the Peoples' National Party's (PNP) 75th annual conference at the National Arena.
The police have announced that Arthur Wint Drive will be operated as a one-way in an easterly direction towards the National Arena.
They say only vehicles carrying persons attending the conference will be allowed to turn from Mountain View Avenue on to Arthur Wint Drive.
All other vehicles, including Jamaica Urban Transit Company buses, must continue straight along Mountain View Avenue.
The changes, which took effect at 7 a.m. and will remain effective until the conference ends.
The police have warned that all provisions of the Road Traffic Act will be strictly enforced for vehicles heading to the conference. They warn that drivers should not allow passengers to hang from the doors of buses, sit on top of vehicles or have any body part protruding from moving vehicles.
The police says drivers must obey the speed limit and desist from dangerous and careless driving on the nation’s roads as the full force of the law will be brought to bear on anyone found in contravention of any of its provisions.
