Gov't to create single agency to fight corruption
2013-09-22 18:12:01 | (0 Comments)
Minister of Justice Mark Golding says legislation to establish a single anti-corruption agency should be brought to parliament before the end of the year.
In an interview on national television during the People's National Party's (PNP) 75th annual conference at the National Arena in St Andrew, Golding says a first draft of the legislation was received in July and a second draft is to be submitted shortly.
Golding says the intention is to consolidate the existing arms of the state and bring them under a single agency.
Meanwhile, pointing to the resignation of State Minister in the Ministry of Transport, Works and Housing, Richard Azan last week, Golding said the situation is an indication that accountability is improving.
