Jamaica’s women basketballers are now heading back home after an early exit from the 2013 FIBA Americas Championships in Mexico.
The Jamaicans lost three straight matches before beating Venezuela 81-61 in a game of academic interest on yesterday's final day of preliminary round games.
The victory means Jamaica finished second-from-the-bottom in the points’ table.
Player/coach Simone Edwards led Jamaica with 16 points, while Angelee LaTouche had 14 points and Vanessa Gidden 13.
Daniela Wallen was the best player for Venezuela with 15 points.
The Americas Championship is a qualifying tournament for the FIBA World Championship for Women and the Olympic Games.
