The Stadium Police are reporting that approximately 10 vehicles were broken into and one stolen during the Sir Arthur Guinness Celebration concert held at the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston, last night.
While the police could not speak specifically to which vehicles were broken into, they lamented the difficulty they had in monitoring the situation.
The police also pointed out that members of the surrounding communities watch the police’s actions and move accordingly in their unscrupulous actions.
They have recommended that a ticketing system be implemented by the state-owned Independence Park Limited in order to reduce the theft of vehicles.
General Manager of Independence Park Limited Major Desmond Brown says a ticketing system was implemented but it broke down and efforts are under way to rectify the problem.
He also sought to make it clear that the theft of the vehicles occurred outside the stadium.
Major Brown acknowledged that there are problems within the stadium but this happens when patrons do not pay sufficient attention to the rules.
