Alleged St Catherine electricity thieves to face court November
2013-09-30 12:53:50 | (0 Comments)
Two persons are to face the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate’s Court on November 26 for illegally extracting electricity.
Another five people have also been summoned to appear before the court.
The development follows a major crackdown on electricity thieves by the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) last week.
The JPS says its crews carried out operations in sections of St Catherine and removed 325 illegal connections from its infrastructure.
It says almost half of these electrical wires were taken down in the Orange Field and Old Harbour Bay communities.
The JPS says illegal wires were also found in Jericho, Gregory Park, Penn Way and Greater Portmore (Myrtle Way).
A week earlier JPS crews also removed more than 300 illegal connections from the grid, in other St Catherine communities.
