Ambulance personnel need improved training urgently
2013-10-02 13:56:40 | (0 Comments)
The union representing Government ambulance drivers and attendants says there is an urgent need for the authorities to improve training and equipment to ensure effective service.
The Jamaica Workers’ Union outlined its concerns in a letter to Minister with Responsibility for the Public Service, Horace Dalley, which was copied to the media.
According to the union president, Clifton Brown, current ambulance drivers and attendants are not appropriately trained or equipped.
He argues that the increase in traffic accidents and other emergencies make it even more pressing for ambulance personnel to be trained and equipped in line with international standards.
Brown says if Jamaica is to have a first class healthcare system, the Government must act immediately.
