360MW PROJECT: Azurest says it intends to continue search for funding
2013-10-05 08:06:49 | (0 Comments)
Azurest says OURís refusal to extend the deadline for it to pay the bid bond for the 360 megawatt project will rob Jamaicans of best energy solution.
Yesterday, the OUR announced that Energy World International (EWI) is now the preferred bidder for the project, after Azurest Cambridge failed to meet the deadline.
However, in a release yesterday Azurest maintained that it was selected as the Preferred Bidder in the first instance, because it offers the most affordable plan, which will guarantee Jamaican consumers the most substantial savings.
The company says it does not believe Jamaica deserves to be saddled with a default alternative.
Azurest Cambridge has asked for an extension of 15 working days claiming that it was having difficulty securing the funds because public statements and media stories cast doubt on the project.
However, Azurest Cambridge says it will still be seeking to secure the investment capital to fund its proposal.
