The Police Traffic Division has vowed to begin an islandwide crackdown on heavily tinted public passenger vehicles (PPV) this morning.
Head of the division, Senior Superintendent of Police, Radcliffe Lewis, says the police are collaborating with the Island Traffic Authority.
Lewis says any vehicle found with dark tints will be seized, impounded, and the licence plates will be removed.
He also says PPV operators found in breach will be sanctioned.
SSP Lewis argues that the new drive against tinted buses is also aimed at removing what he terms party buses from the streets of the Corporate Area.
It came to light recently that some students have been paying up to $500 to drive around the Corporate Area on buses on which lewd music is played and sexual activities take place.
