Discipline Gang leader lawyers call murder charges conspiracy
2013-10-09 10:48:48 | (0 Comments)
Lawyers representing the reputed leader of the Rose Town based Discipline Gang, Uriel James, have argued that the murder charges against him are part of a grand conspiracy to keep him in custody.
James, more popularly known as Rooksie, is facing three murder charges.
The murders were allegedly committed in 1999, 2004 and 2011.
Yesterday, Attorneys-at-Law Patrick Bailey and Alando Terrelonge made a bail application for James in relation to the 2004 murder.
In their submissions, the lawyers referred to two conflicting statements given by a witness in the case.
It was pointed out that in a statement given in 2011 in relation to the 2004 murder, the witness had said James was heard saying that the youth should be brought to him.
The lawyers pointed out that in a further statement given in 2013, the witness said James gave orders that the youth should be killed.
The bail application is to continue tomorrow as the judge wants further information about James’ connections in the Rose Town community.
