Minister of National Security, Peter Bunting, has strongly condemned the murder of Special Constable Jermaine Bartley in St James last night.
Peter Bunting – File
In a release Bunting said, “the brutal murder of Bartley at his home in St James yesterday evening, serves as a reminder that criminals are determined to unleash terror on the forces of law and order, as well as on the communities they try to dominate, even in the face of the current major anti-gang operations in Area 1”.
Bunting said while the brutal attack on Bartley and his spouse will be difficult to accept, he is urging police personnel to ensure that the killing does not go in vain by allowing murderous criminality to thrive.
He called for all law abiding citizens to rise up against criminals.
The minister also urged the Special Constable’s colleagues to be of good courage in these difficult times, and encouraged them not to be weary in well doing, even while acknowledging that the depth of grief and anguish will be oppressive.
He has wished Bartley’s spouse a speedy and full recovery, and has also extended deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.
