EXTREME! High Command raise threat level against police
2013-10-11 09:33:59 | (0 Comments)
The police High Command has raised to extreme, the threat level against all members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) across Jamaica.
Extreme means that attack against JCF members on or off duty is imminent.
A statement from the High Command last night noted that the rise in the threat level comes against the background of the police/military operation against criminal gangs across the island.
The police launched its Operation Resilience at the beginning of this month.
On Wednesday, a major crackdown in western Jamaica resulted in the killing of three alleged gangsters during confrontations with the police and the seizure of several illegal guns.
The raising of the threat level also comes 24 hours after Special Constable Jermaine Bartley was shot and killed by unknown assailants in his home in Irwin, St James.
His girlfriend, who was also shot, remains hospitalised in serious condition.
JCF members are being urged to be true to their oath of office by protecting Jamaicans from criminals and use their training to protect themselves if they are attacked.
