The Reggae Boyz’ slim hopes making the playoff were extinguished last night in Kansas City following a 2-0 defeat against the United States in the penultimate round of the CONCACAF Qualifiers.
Graham Zusi scored in the 77th minute and Jozy Altidore doubled the score in the 80th.
With one round of matches to go, the Reggae Boyz remained bottom of the six-team table on four points and will stay in that position at the end of the qualifiers.
The result means the USA will finish the CONCACAF qualifiers atop the table.
They have climbed to 19 points, four ahead of Costa Rica who lost 1-0 away to Honduras in San Pedro Sula.
The USA and Costa Rica had already qualified for the 2014 Brazil World Cup ahead of yesterday’s round of matches.
