2013-10-14 08:50:13 | (0 Comments)
Members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force have been directed to desist from making any comments to the media or entities outside of the Force on internal matters.
Owen Ellington – File
Commissioner of Police Owen Ellington, in the Force Orders issued last week, warned that members must refrain from making comments to the media, as any breach of this directive will be met with the appropriate sanction.
Reiterating the forces stance on speaking with the media, Ellington stated that a member shall not, without the consent of the Commissioner, publish or communicate to the press or any unauthorised individual, any matter pertaining to the Force or any other matter in which such a member is involved.
He pointed out that members of the constabulary have been making complaints and voicing their concerns to Members of parliament, Government ministers, other government bodies and external entities.
The police commissioner noted that members are prohibited from doing so.
He said members must first make complaints to sub-officers, who are then expected to address the issue through the proper channels.
